Frequently Asked Questions

How long should I expect to be in the spa?

For every head spa appointment, we require an additional 15 mins for the consultation and the follow up. So if you are booked for a 60min session for example, please plan to be in our salon for a total of 75 minutes.

How long/strong is the massage?

Please do not mistake our head Spa as a "massage.” Posh is not a massage parlor. Since our specialists are working and touching your head and scalp throughout the service, the process may feel like a massage. However, our head Spa methodology was never designed or intended to be a massage. Our concept is rooted in a holistic approach for scalp therapy. We definitely want to make our clients feel relaxed while they are in our chair; nevertheless, we cannot accommodate requests for stronger/longer massages as massages are not the focus of our head Spa concept.

Can my friend and I get the Hair Spa done at the same time?

Currently we can only accommodate one guest at a time in our private room for our Head Spa; multiple appointments would have to be either back-to-back or at different times/dates. (We are growing our service area in Aug 2024)

Are blow outs included?

Please Be Advised: You just got the head spa session. This stress-relieving session will leave your hair nourished, and will take some time to properly absorb the nourishment into the root. A full blow out is not included with the Head Spa and must be requested as a separate service if desired. Normally after a head spa service, we would simply towel dry and provide a complimentary hair claw or custom head spa wrap the guest's hair. However, if a guest prefers a proper blow dry with styling, a separate appointment would have to be booked with a stylist. Blow Outs are subject to availability and cannot always be guaranteed after a HAir-Spa appointment. Availability is dependent on the salon’s schedule.

HOW OFTEN CAN THIS BE DONE?

A Head Spa is an Anti-Aging necessity! Anywhere from once a week to once or twice a month. If you are treating hair loss, once a week is strongly recommended.

Will the Head Spa affect my hair color/keratin?

All of our ingredients are safe for any kind of treated hair! However, if you have recently done any kind of chemical services within a week before your hair Spa appointment, there is a chance that the color/keratin may lift during our detoxing process. Therefore, we recommend customers to wait at least a week after any kind of hair treatment.
We also recommend waiting at least a week after having a head spa Treatment before doing any kind of chemical services. You wouldn’t want to apply chemicals to a freshly cleaned scalp!

Is this service recommended for textured hair?

Our specialists are experienced with all hair types, from thin & fragile, thick & coarse, wavy, curly, porous, Loc’s* to even bald! However, the hair itself is actually not so much of a concern as we will be primarily focusing on the scalp. At the end of the day, the Head Spa is a scalp treatment. As long as you have a scalp, we can give you a head spa treatment.
We only ask you to make sure that we have proper access to the scalp.

*Note: We cannot perform services on customers with extensions, braids, or sew-ins as these obstruct access to the scalp and pores. Loc’s must allow access to the scalp, we don’t recommend this on freshly twisted loc’s.

Is the Head Spa safe for expecting mothers?

Our Head Spa is completely safe for pregnant customers. However, some guests may be concerned about being exposed to certain herbs and oils such as lavender while they are expecting. Therefore, it would be best to consult your doctor to see if there is anything you should avoid.

Another concern would be that we require guests to lay completely flat on your back during the whole duration of the service. If this is something you are unable to do, then it may be best to wait until after the delivery before trying the head spa.

Pregnancy: All of our treatments involve lying on your back for an extended period of time, which may potentially compress a major blood vessel leading to feelings of dizziness and reduced blood flow to the fetus, particularly in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. While we strive to ensure comfort and safety during our treatments, pregnant individuals should consult with their healthcare provider before participating, as certain positions may not be suitable for their specific health needs.

Can I record myself during the service?

Once in the Head Spa private room, all cell phone usage will be prohibited. Please set your phone to silent mode and set it aside before starting the appointment.

After your Head Spa Visit

Keep your hair covered: After a nourishing spa, it is important not to leave your hair open so that your hair is protected from dust and dirt and retains its moisture.

Do not apply hair oil: Your hair is already subject to deep conditioning through moisturizing lotions and creams in the hair spa. Hence, applying oil after the spa does not benefit your hair or make it extra soft in any manner. Instead, it can cause them to become more sticky, especially if your scalp naturally secretes more sebum.

Save your hair from styling: Styling your hair with a straightener or blower can make your hair rough again, rendering the spa session of no use. It is essential to follow these hair spa care tips for the best results.

Don’t wash hair frequently: Can we wash our hair after a hair spa session?

This stress-relieving session will leave your hair nourished, and will take some time to properly absorb the nourishment into the roots. Although washing your hair after treatment may feel good, it strips your hair of its natural moisture. This causes the nourishing effects of the hair spa to wear off. Hence, it is recommended not to wash your hair for 2-3 days to absorb the hair spa’s nutrients completely.
